The Queen’s Care of the Elderly program has funding to accept 1 PGY3 resident each year. Applications for all Category 1 Enhanced Skills Care of the Elderly programs are submitted through the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS). Details on application information and deadlines can be found on the Queen's DFM Enhanced Skills (PGY3) Application Process and Timelines webpage and on the CaRMS website.
Deadlines for application change year-to-year so please review the Queen’s and CaRMS websites carefully and contact the PGY3 Enhanced Skills Program Coordinator Dana Rae with any questions about the application process (see Contact Us section below).
Successful candidates for our program will be physicians with demonstrated interest and at least some clinical experience in care of the elderly, as well as a strong academic record. Any PGY2 currently enrolled in a Canadian family medicine residency program is welcome to apply.
Re-entry candidates from Ontario should follow the directions on the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care website. They should apply through the Ministry of Health first. Once their application is received at Queen’s University it will be reviewed, and applicants may be asked for further information.
Sponsored Residents (visa trainees funded by their home government) who are interested in our program should contact the Program Director directly.
