How to Apply
Current medical students and International Medical Graduates:
Applications and admission to our residency programs are administered through the Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS). Please visit the CaRMS site for more information about how to apply and the interview process.
Physicians not currently in a training program:
Spaces may be available through the CaRMS second round match. Available spaces will be listed on the CaRMS site when second round opens.
Transfers:
If you are considering a transfer into family medicine, please contact DFM-carms@queensu.ca. There are limited opportunities to transfer to our program mid-stream, however please do contact us if you are interested in family medicine at Queen’s.
PGY3 Programs:
Please see the PGY3 Program pages.
Indigenous Applicants:
Queen's Family Medicine is committed to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action on Health. For this reason, we encourage Indigenous applicants to our residency program to self-identify as Indigenous using their personal letter in the application process.
We also encourage Indigenous applicants offered interviews to self-identify when selecting interview dates. This information will be used to determine interview stream, and will also identify ways in which the residency program can connect Indigenous residents to Indigenous-specific resources and supports.
Interview Information:
The program will notify all applicants through CaRMS Online and will send email invitations directly to applicants selected for an interview. We believe strongly in the interview process. The interview is as much for you to learn about us as it is for us to learn about you. We will be hosting all interviews online.
We will host an information session with our program director, site directors, enhanced skills program director, and current residents at the beginning of the interview period. This session will provide an overview of our program and information about our amazing learning experiences, teaching sites, and learning resources. There will be ample opportunity to have your questions answered. There is no examination component to the interview. We look forward to meeting you virtually!
If you require any special accommodations or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
