Dr. Michael Green is Nominated Principal Investigator for a $2 million grant that will enable him to continue to study the state of primary health-care services in Ontario.
The INSPIRE-PHC-2 (Innovations Strengthening Primary Healthcare through Research-Phase 2) research program has been awarded through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s Health System Research Fund (HSRF).
The project is a continuation of an earlier three-year HSRF program award that was led by Western University.
Along with co-lead Rick Glazier at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES), Dr. Green and his team of about 30 researchers province-wide will further evaluate Ontario’s primary health-care services and make recommendations to the ministry to bridge identified gaps. A series of studies will provide better-quality information on patient needs and the capacity to deliver care in defined geographic areas, and will provide early feedback on the successes and challenges in introducing primary health-care reforms. This research will help improve access to care, the care experience for patients, and better health outcomes for all Ontarians.
