Queen’s Family Medicine is pleased to announce Dr. Sarah Funnell as Indigenous Health Director.
Working with Indigenous health leads at each of the program’s four sites, Dr. Funnell will advance the department’s program-wide core curriculum in Indigenous health. She will also provide consultation regarding recruitment, admission, and support of Indigenous residents.
A family physician in Ottawa, Dr. Funnell is co-chair of the College of Family Physicians of Canada’s Indigenous Health Working Group and a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada’s Indigenous Health Advisory Committee. Among her many honours and awards, she earned the Dr. Geoffrey Dunkley Award for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Ottawa’s School of Epidemiology and Public Health this year, along with the university’s 2018 PARO Resident Teaching Award.
