Queen’s Department of Family Medicine (DFM), in partnership with the South East Local Health Integration Network, Immigration Services Kingston and Area, and Kingston Community Health Centres, offers a Refugee Health Initiative website to provide health-care providers, newcomers, and community organizations with useful resources for the provision of care for refugees from Syria and elsewhere. An initiative of Dr. Eva Purkey, Queen’s DFM Global Health Director, the site is also intended to serve as a resource for communication between the primary health-care community, the broader health-care community, and Kingston’s settlement services.
The department’s Global Health initiative also publishes Horizons, a twice-annual newsletter designed to update faculty, residents, and staff on what’s going on in Global Health at Queen’s and in the broader community.
