Kingston FM OB Call Group

The Kingston Family Medicine Obstetrics Call Group, comprising family physicians from throughout our community, is pleased to welcome referrals.

This group’s physicians are on “soft call,” which means referred patients will most likely be delivered by the same physician who follows their care in later pregnancy.

Referrals can be faxed to our individual offices. Ideally, we see patients at 28 weeks of pregnancy, so please fax referrals before this time.

Dr. Lisa Forster

Following graduation from Queen’s School of Medicine in 2002, Dr. Lisa Forster completed her family medicine residency training in Moncton, NB, and established a practice in Prince Edward County, Ontario, in 2005. She relocated to Kingston in 2013 and has a full-spectrum family practice at the Clergy Street Family Physicians clinic, part of the Maple Family Health Team. Providing obstetrical care for nearly 20 years has been a very rewarding facet of her family practice, and she has been grateful to work closely with the amazing team at Kingston Health Sciences Centre since 2013. Dr. Forster enjoys family time, travelling, reading, and staying active.

Dr. Meg Gemmill

Dr. Meg Gemmill is a family physican at Cornerstone Medical Clinic.

Dr. Aileen Gray

Dr. Aileen Gray has been practising family medicine obstetrics in Kingston since 2002. She completed her MD followed by several years of obstetrics and gynaecology training and then family medicine, all at Queen’s University. She has an interest in women’s health and global health, and has undertaken extra training in ultrasound and tropical/travel medicine. Dr. Gray enjoys volunteering in lower- and middle-income countries. In her spare time, she loves hiking, cross country skiing, reading, crocheting, and trying (very slowly) to learn French and Spanish.

Dr. Jennifer Henstock

Dr. Jennifer Henstock completed her family medicine residency at Queen’s University in 1993. She then completed further training in obstetrics at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand, and she’s been attending births since then. It is one of her favourite parts of practice and a privilege to be involved with women at this stage of their life. Dr. Henstock is passionate about supporting breastfeeding and the transition to parenthood. She has three children of her own, two birth and one adopted, who are all now young adults pursuing their own dreams. She lives in the Kingston community and is married to Eric, her wonderful husband of 26 years!

Dr. Laura Kroeker

Dr. Laura Kroeker received her MD from the University of Calgary and completed her family medicine residency at Queen's University, including enhanced skills training focused on obstetric and newborn care. She is now part of the Queen's Family Health Team, where she manages a full-spectrum practice and works as an assistant professor at the Queen’s Department of Family Medicine. Her practice also includes managing newborn tongue and lip ties. Dr. Kroeker is passionate about providing evidence-based, patient-centred care and finds low-risk obstetrics to be one of the most rewarding parts of her job. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening and spending time with her family.

Dr. Elaine Ma

Dr. Elaine Ma completed her MD and family medicine residency at Queen’s University. She started family medicine practice, including obstetrical practice at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, in 2014. She has since started a new family health organization that covers both the Kingston and Wolfe Island areas. Dr. Ma’s favourite part of her family medicine practice is getting to know families during the course of pregnancy and having the privilege of delivering their babies. She typically delivers four to six babies per month, each one special to her and bringing her great joy. Outside of work, Dr. Ma and her husband, Eric, enjoy chasing their children in all of their activities!

Dr. Tara McGregor

Dr. Tara McGregor received her MD from the University of Toronto and completed her family medicine residency at Queen's University, including enhanced skills training focused on obstetrical care. She works at the Kingston Family Health Team practising full-scope family medicine, including intrapartum care. Dr. McGregor is passionate about providing high-quality whole-person care to all her patients. Intrapartum care is an especially rewarding part of her practice. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and baking, cross-stitching, knitting, and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.

Dr. Adam Newman

Dr. Adam Newman received his MD at McMaster University and completed his family medicine residency at the University of Toronto. After two years as a general practitioner in Sioux Lookout, he spent 17 years practising full-scope family medicine in Kingston. In 2013 he was certified by both the Canadian and International Society of Addiction Medicine and has since focused his practice on people living with substance use disorders, including pregnant women. An assistant professor at Queen’s Family Medicine with cross-appointments to pediatrics and psychiatry, Dr. Newman helped introduce the practice of rooming-in to Kingston Health Sciences Centre, where opioid-dependent newborns remain with their mothers and are more likely to breastfeed and to have an easier time adapting to life outside the womb. He believes passionately in the importance of breastfeeding, and will perform tongue tie releases for mothers and babies outside his practice in order to make it easier. He also accepts referrals for insertion of IUDs or Nexplanon.

Dr. Rupa Patel

Dr. Rupa Patel is a family physican at Kingston Community Health Centres.

Dr. Eva Purkey

Dr. Eva Purkey is a family physician trained at Universite de Montreal and Queen's University. She worked at Kingston Community Health Centres for eight years practising primary care and low-risk obstetrics before moving to Queen's Family Health Team in 2014, where she provides full-scope primary care with an interest in marginalized populations and maternal and child health. In addition to being a primary care provider, Dr. Purkey’s work focuses on global health, health equity, and meaningful community-based research, and she is particularly interested in the long-term impacts of childhood adversity. She loves supporting families in the transition to parenthood. Outside of work, she has two beautiful boys who are amazing sources of joy and endless surprise.

Dr. Jacqueline Sproule

Dr. Jacqueline Sproule is a family physican at Frontenac Doctors.

Dr. Christy Stephenson

Dr. Christy Stephenson completed medical school at Dalhousie University's New Brunswick campus, followed by family medicine residency at Queen's University. She then completed enhanced skills training in rural skills, focused on emergency medicine and obstetrical skills. She has been working at Queen's Family Health Team since 2021. Dr. Stephenson is passionate about providing patient-centred, evidence-based obstetrical care and teaching family medicine residents to do the same. She loves supporting patients and families in the journey to parenthood and is honoured to be there when their new loved ones enter the world. In her spare time, she enjoys running marathons and spending time with her dog, Fundy, and her fiancé. Matt.

Dr. Lindsay Webster

Dr. Lindsay Webster completed her medical training at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and her family medicine residency and enhanced skills training in low-risk obstetrics and women’s health at Western University. She has practised family medicine obstetrics since 2015. She moved to the Kingston area in 2021 after working in the GTA and Calgary, Alberta. Dr. Webster has a special interest in low-risk obstetrics, lactation, women’s health, and newborn care. She is currently working towards her IBCLC. In her current practice, she primarily provides maternal and newborn care that includes following patients throughout their pregnancy and postpartum, providing breastfeeding/chestfeeding support (including tongue tie assessment and treatment), and contraception counselling and treatment (including IUD and Nexplanon insertions). Dr. Webster is excited about providing patient-centred, evidenced-based care to families in the community.
