Primary Care Research Day 2026
Primary Care Research Day 2026 will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Kingston Marriott (285 King Street East, Kingston, ON).
Hosted by the Centre for Studies in Primary Care and Queen’s Family Medicine, this annual event is open to all department faculty and staff. The day highlights the diverse research projects of 76 PGY2 residents across four sites, organized into four thematic sessions:
- Navigating Complexity: Addressing Mental Health & Addiction in Primary Care
- Reimagining Healthcare Delivery: Evaluating Programs, Policy & Impact
- Driving Change: Innovations in Primary Care
- Training for Practice: Curriculum, Careers & Patient Care
Keynote speaker
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Fiona Kouyoumdjian, MD, MPH, PhD, FCPC, FRCPC, who will deliver the keynote address:
“Primary Care Scholarship Opportunities: Perspectives from a Prison Health Researcher and Family Physician.”
Dr. Kouyoumdjian is an Associate Professor and Research Director in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University, an Associate Member in the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact at McMaster, and an Adjunct Scientist at ICES.
She holds a BA with Honours from Brown University, an MD from Dalhousie University, an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Her training includes residencies in Family Medicine and Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of Toronto, as well as a CIHR Fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Dr. Kouyoumdjian has extensive clinical experience as a Family Physician in a Hamilton correctional facility and leads a collaborative research program examining the health and health care of people who experience incarceration—focused on preventing incarceration, improving in-prison health care, and supporting health during community re‑entry.
