Dr. Fil Gilic Earns Queen’s Lectureship Award

Dr. Fil Gilic has won the Queen’s School of Medicine Aesculapian Society’s 2018-2019 Lectureship Award for undergraduate teaching. Nominated lecturers were those the Class of 2022 deemed to have made the most outstanding contribution to students’ education.  

This is the third time Dr. Gilic has won this annual award for teaching the Meds 115 course, which he teaches with Dr. Matt Simpson.


Drs. David Barber, Michael Green, and Catherine Donnelly (OT) are co-investigators on a $1.4-million project titled Determining the Impact of a Physiotherapist-Led Primary Care Model for Low Back Pain - A Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial.     

Dr. Imaan Bayoumi Receives SEAMO Innovation Fund Award

Dr. Imaan Bayoumi has received a SEAMO Innovation Fund award for her research, Targeting Child Mental Health and Household Poverty: Impact of a Poverty Intervention in Primary Care on Preschool Children’s Emotional and Behavioural Health. This pilot study was funded for $99,960 from 2019-2021. Recruitment is currently underway at the Queen's Family Health Team. 

Dr. Joey Newbigging Earns PARO Teaching Award

Dr. Joey Newbigging, Program Director, Enhanced Skills Emergency Medicine, has earned this year’s Professional Association of Residents of Ontario (PARO) Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award for Queen’s University. This award acknowledges the essential role good clinical teachers play in the training of new physicians.

Opioids, Addictions, Focus of Horizons

Belleville Team Co-Investigators on CIHR Grant

Occupational Therapists Dr. Catherine Donnelly and Nicole Bobbette, and Pharmacist Dr. Stephanie Lynch,  all from the Queen’s Family Health Team Belleville Site, are co-investigators on a CIHR Operating Grant ($100,000) for Evaluating the Outcomes and Experiences Of Chronic Pain Self-Management Support with an Opioid De-Prescribing Intervention: A Mixed Methods Study.
