Dr. David Barber named SGFP Chair

Dr. David Barber has been named chair of the Ontario Medical Association’s Section on General and Family Practice (SGFP). The SGFP advocates for more than 15,000 comprehensive longitudinal and focused-care primary care family physicians in Ontario. His one-year term as chair began May 11. In 2018, Dr. Barber was elected as the SGFP’s representative for District 7, which covers Frontenac, Leeds, Lennox and Addington, and Grenville County (excluding the township of Oxford). 

Dr. Rashid Earns CFPC Award of Excellence

Congratulations to Dr. Ammar Rashid, Division of Hospital Medicine Chair, who has received a CFPC 2022 Award of Excellence. Presented at the 2022 Ontario College of Family Physicians awards ceremony on November 16, this award recognizes Dr. Rashid “for creating an integrated, more robust hospitalist team” at Queen’s Family Medicine. Dr. Rashid has led our hospital medicine program at Providence Care since its launch in 2019.

Dr. Michael Green Named CFPC President-Elect

Dr. Michael Green has been appointed as a new director-at-large with the College of Family Physicians of Canada’s (CFPC) board of directors, filling an unexpired term ending on November 11, 2021. In its announcement, the College wrote: Dr. Green has skills, experiences, knowledge, and other attributes that will allow him to contribute meaningfully to the Board immediately.” The CFPC’s 2021 election will be held in October. Dr. Kieran Moore Named Ontario's Chief MOH (June 2021)

Dr. Kieran Moore, Program Director, Public Health and Preventive Medicine (PHPM) program, has been appointed Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health (MOH). Dr. Moore is highly regarded for his role in leading our area through the COVID-19 pandemic as MOH for KFL&A Public Health. In his new position, which takes effect June 26, he will maintain his role with our PHPM program. (June 2021)
