QFHT / Kingston Locum (Faculty Associate) Physician Opportunities
Looking for a new opportunity?
We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic locums (known as faculty associates within our practice) to cover several leaves this summer (and year-round) in our teaching clinics. The Department of Family Medicine at Queen’s University is a fully accredited and award winning program that provides interprofessional clinical care at our Queen’s Family Health Team (QFHT) locations. QFHT serves as the teaching site for approximately 50 first year residents. Available faculty associate opportunities include short-term need for vacation coverage and long-term coverage for sabbatical or maternity leaves.
QFHT is a dynamic group of 23 physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff committed to delivering quality care to over 15,000 active patients in the Kingston area and to model excellence for our learners. Our academic practice is located in two downtown Kingston sites (220 Bagot Street and 115 Clarence Street). We use the OSCAR EMR system and the OTN e-consult service. Our programs and services include INR management; foot-care services; mental health counselling; obstetrics, prenatal care, and lactation support; smoking cessation; and well baby, well child programs.
The successful applicant must be licensed to practice in Ontario on or before your appointment start day, with preference given to candidates who have a valid certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada. As we are an academic family health team, locum responsibilities will include both patient care and resident supervision and teaching. Our clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Our after-hours clinic is open Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
A competitive remuneration and benefits package is offered. As well, for those considering this opportunity, Kingston offers a myriad of outdoor activities including world-class sailing, kayaking, boating, scuba diving, golf, hiking and cycling within the Thousand Islands tourist region.
Applicants are asked to submit the following:
- A current curriculum vitae;
- A completed Faculty Associate Application Form, which can be accessed by clicking here;
- The names and contact information for three referees;
- A cover letter outlining how current qualifications and experience match our requirements;
- A letter of good standing from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO); and
