Staff Physician, Clinician Researcher, Supervising and teaching Family Medicine residents, clinical coverage and patient care.
Education: MD, Queen’s University (1987), CCFP (1990), MSc McMaster University in Health Research Methodology (2012)
Expertise: Family Medicine, Health equity, Child health
Research Interests: Her research interests include social determinants of children’s health with a focus on family income and children’s health, iron deficiency in young children, developmental assessment in young children. Her work also focuses on evaluating interventions that can improve social determinants of health, including screening and mechanisms to improve integration of social services with health services, health justice partnerships and other innovations. Additional research interests include access to health services for adults with mental health disorders, and other under-served groups.
About me:

I am an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine, am cross appointed to the Department of Public Health Sciences and am an Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) Fellow. I am the site investigator for the TARGet Kids! primary care practice based research network for children, and a member of the TARGet Kids! Science committee. I am a member of the core group supporting the Rourke Baby Record, Canada’s evidence informed health supervision guide for primary care of young children. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including the Napanee Area Community Health Centre, as a hospitalist in Rehabilitation Medicine, as a Wound Care specialist. I am a parent and grandparent and enjoy music, spending time in nature, reading and spending time with my family. I am committed to social justice and to understanding how health systems can more effectively serve the needs of under-served groups.
