The 12 month program would commence July 1, and consist of three major blocks. The following is a proposed structure to the year though it should be noted that the program is intended to be flexible to meet the needs of individual residents. Residents should consult the program coordinator if they wish to alter their learning experience.
FIRST TEN WEEKS - July 1 to mid-September: ELECTIVE
*Obstetrics strongly encouraged* Some required reading to be completed prior to core. Establishment of relationship with mentor. SEVEN MONTHS - Mid-September to Mid-April: CORE ROTATION "Horizontal learning" Continuing care family medicine 1-2 days/week Gynecology clinics (Reproductive technology, PMS, Endocrinology, Sexual Medicine, Gynecological Cancers, Incontinence) Eating disorders clinic Counselling with supervision (Adult survivors of child sexual abuse, women experiencing domestic violence, etc.) Women's Clinic at KGH (T.A.'s) Sexual Assault Call Prison for Women Clinics Community Placements Women's Studies courses Teaching Rounds Feminist Critical Appraisal Support Group Other
LAST TEN WEEKS - Mid-April to end of June: ELECTIVE
Consider further obstetrics, geriatrics, research that is combined with core component, extension of the core, or other out of town rotations. Evaluation of program by resident.
